Aurora Borealis - Feb 1st

Posted on 3rd February, 2019

Another stunning picture of the amazing Aurora Borealis that has been viewed from Perth.  Captured by Katherine Fotheringham, one of the talented photographers from Fox in the Snow Photography.

The Aurora is an incredible light show caused by collisions between electrically charged particles released from the sun that enter the earth's atmosphere and collide with gases such as oxygen and nitrogen. The lights are seen around the magnetic poles of the northern and southern hemispheres.

Tony Foulds - Endcliffe Park, Sheffield

** Update **

Super pleased for Tony Foulds, well done on your campaign. The US Ambassador confirmed this morning the US Air Force will carry out a fly-past on the anniversary on 22 February.

--------

We had the absolute pleasure to meet an amazing man in Endcliffe Park, Sheffield, this afternoon. Tony Foulds was an 8-yr-old playing in the park when a US plane crashed in Feb 1944. He has diligently maintained the memorial ever since. He is campaigning and hoping to have a fly-past organised for the 75th anniversary on 22nd February.

River Tay Beavers

Posted on 19th June, 2018

It's been 400 years since the reintroduction of beavers into the wild in Scotland and it is thought to have been a resounding success.   The four pairs of beavers reintroduced in Knapdale in 2010 and since then have gone from strength to strenght.   In certain areas tourism has been significantly boosted with dedicated areas and tours for Beaver watching.

On the river Tay in Perth we don't have any specific Beaver Tours however we do have hard working and dedicated photographers who get up early to try and photograph the elusive mammals.   One such photographer is Gordon Muir, who patiently waits at the side of the river and generously shares his pictures to a Perthshire FaceBook group to give pleasure for those of us who do not want to get up early in the morning!
