River Tay Beavers

Posted on 19th June, 2018

It's been 400 years since the reintroduction of beavers into the wild in Scotland and it is thought to have been a resounding success.   The four pairs of beavers reintroduced in Knapdale in 2010 and since then have gone from strength to strenght.   In certain areas tourism has been significantly boosted with dedicated areas and tours for Beaver watching.

On the river Tay in Perth we don't have any specific Beaver Tours however we do have hard working and dedicated photographers who get up early to try and photograph the elusive mammals.   One such photographer is Gordon Muir, who patiently waits at the side of the river and generously shares his pictures to a Perthshire FaceBook group to give pleasure for those of us who do not want to get up early in the morning!
